I know that I’ve been a little MIA lately, but life has been busy around these parts lately and my other project has kept me glued to my computer. Besides working on Covered Style, I’ve also been having fun helping a friend with her house remodel. She has beautiful taste and her house is going to be gorgeous. I honestly can’t wait to show you all of the rooms that we’re designed and put together. Enter the chic femme bedroom and a whole house full of gorgeous rooms!
Unfortunately, the house is still very much under construction, like the flooring and cabinets aren’t installed yet, so I thought that I’d post some of the moodboards that I put together. My client wanted her bedroom to be modern, yet feminine so we’re balancing the crisp clean feel of the black and white look while still keeping it soft, light, and chic.
As a warning, this is not some gorgeous moodboard where everything is completely in place and proportionally correct- it’s just a general feel of the room. I promise that once we get everything set up and styled, I will post
Lamps, Nightstands, Bed, Bedding, Art, Rug (Fun Rug), Curtains, Blush pillow (cheaper option), Gold pillows, X Bench, Dresser
So what’s your favorite piece? Do you love the more stark, modern look or do you lean more towards a warmer, cozier bedroom?
You know I’d love to hear our thoughts!
So, have you heard of Bezar before? It’s like Etsy except for beautifully curated, modern and with a gorgeous design (sorry Etsy). I stumbled upon them today and I’ll admit that I’ve spent WAAAAY too much time looking through the different shops and trying talk myself out of buying too much.
One thing I love and hate about the site is that there are new products every day but shops and their items only last for 7 days. It’s great for inspiration each day but also it means you have to buy something you love pretty much when you see it otherwise you run the risk of forgetting about it and losing your chance.
Like many new decor/deal sites, it’s member-only but sign up is free and they promise not to spam you. Take a look at Bezar (it’s linked to the sign up page) and let me know if you found anything that you love! Did you love or hate any of the things I’ve put in my shopping bag?
So my husband and I are lackadaisically looking for a house. We’ve toured a few homes, some of which I like and some of which he’s liked. Turns out our aesthetic styles are quite a bit different. He craves everything modern while I love more of a Southern traditional feel. We’ve done our best over the years to blend our tastes (with mine winning over most of the time) and over time I’ve found that both of our tastes have changed just a bit. I’m leaning slightly more modern these days while he has definitely come to appreciate Grecian columns.
As I’ve been soaking up Elements of Style’s Book (and checking out her blog), I’ve made the husband pick out his preferences when we get to pages like these:
I love being surprised by his choices and it’s a fun way to talk about our “dream” rooms. In the five short years we’ve been married, it’s remarkable how much our styles have converged, and thankfully, he doesn’t mind spending a few minutes talking about pillows, textiles and light fixtures with me. These chats have definitely helped me gain more of an appreciation for all things sleek and I certainly love his growing interest in design.
I’ll admit that I feel almost a compulsion to take every decorating style quiz out there and usually try to cajole my sweet husband into taking them too. If you’re tired like I am (hello, long week) and need a fun way to spend few minutes, try taking a few of these quizzes below.
Better Homes and Garden always hits the nail right on the head for me.
Houzz is a fun quiz that includes questions like what type of pet you like or where you prefer to eat.
Stylish Home seems to be the most accurate assessment of my style and the pictures are beautiful!
My Domaine feels more contemporary and has more customized results.
I got traditional, European chic, and even contemporary. While these tests certainly aren’t a refined science, they are a bit fun. Were your results what you expected?
And don’t forget about the giveaway!
