It’s less than a week until I get the keys to my new house and I absolutely cannot wait any longer to share some spaces with you. I actually really like most of the rooms in our new home and it could easily be considered move-in ready but I have to put my stamp on every room. So here’s a picture of our downstairs powder room from the listing:
It’s not terrible but it definitely is in need of an update. There are some things that will stay like the mirror and the sconces. They’re original to the house and are great quality. The towel bar is also gorgeous and has great details so it’ll probably stay as well. But everything else is subject to change. The problem is that I can’t quite make up my mind as to the overall look and feel that I want for this room. So I thought that I’d put together a couple of mood boards and and have you all give me your input.
Many of the pieces are pretty similar but the finished look would be much different. Option 1 is moody and has more of a modern feel while still incorporating the vintage pieces. It feels a little more masculine as well- which isn’t a bad thing considering my husband will live there too.
Option 2 is much more light and airy. I think that it also has more of a peaceful feel with a hint of glam as well. There’s a subtle bird theme which makes it kind of fun and I love the little ceramic love birds-they’re actually wedding cake toppers but I think they’d be beautiful in any room.
So which one do you like? My husband said that he couldn’t really decide which one he liked better which is surprising because I thought that he’d immediately pick the first. It was only after he realized that option 2 had a bird theme that he decided he wanted to go with option 1. He thinks birds are creepy, I think he’s strange.
Leave a comment letting me know which one you like best! Thanks!
I’m sure that you can tell that I’ve been doing a ton of online window shopping while I’m not so patiently waiting for closing date on my new house. I’m also feeling a little light in the pocket book because, well, buying a house is expensive. So while I’ve been perusing around the web, I’ve been saving links for items that I consider perfect touches that are also on sale. Target is one of my favorite places for just about everything and they did not disappoint this time. I thought I’d share some of my favorites that are all under $20.
I’m thinking that the cream throw and the acacia bowl might have to come and live at my new house and the bulldog cookie jar needs to go to two or three friends who love their wrinkly pooches. The metallic pillows are fab as well and would absolutely go on my bed right this minute if the Mr didn’t use his veto power against them. Won’t someone take them home and love and care them like beautiful, shiny pillows deserve?

This week has been nuts. Meetings, scheduling, volunteering, paperwork, etc. It seems like the busier I get, the less I want to actually do things. Today, I actually daydreamed about staying in bed all day and watching Netflix while I doodle and eat food that was delivered straight to my door. It was a splendid dream. Then I saw Pink Peonies Instagram photo in which she was wearing the perfect robe and it felt like a sign. But who has the luxury of an unproductive morning these days? Certainly not me. 🙁 So instead, I created a mood board of what it might looks like to have one of those beautiful, lazy, listless mornings. And of course, I had to include the robe made of perfection.
Doesn’t that robe make you want to just lay in bed and feel glamorous? Seriously. And having a coordinating throw to snuggle in- is it too much? Not for my dream lazy morning.
So spill it- have any of you had a completely lazy and ridiculously unproductive morning recently? If so, I’m totally jelly!
So, have you heard of Bezar before? It’s like Etsy except for beautifully curated, modern and with a gorgeous design (sorry Etsy). I stumbled upon them today and I’ll admit that I’ve spent WAAAAY too much time looking through the different shops and trying talk myself out of buying too much.
One thing I love and hate about the site is that there are new products every day but shops and their items only last for 7 days. It’s great for inspiration each day but also it means you have to buy something you love pretty much when you see it otherwise you run the risk of forgetting about it and losing your chance.
Like many new decor/deal sites, it’s member-only but sign up is free and they promise not to spam you. Take a look at Bezar (it’s linked to the sign up page) and let me know if you found anything that you love! Did you love or hate any of the things I’ve put in my shopping bag?
We’re closing on our new house in less than two weeks which means I should be packing up boxes, going through miscellaneous items, and all of the other boring moving stuff. But I’m not. I’m scouring the Internet for new furniture for our new digs and I don’t even feel bad about it. I like to think of it as “prepping” for new space. And the past few days I’ve been spending my “prep time” looking at gorgeous entries. Ours will be small but it doesn’t mean it can’t be interesting.
Since space is limited, I’ve pretty much decided on a lucite entry table to keep things visually clean while giving the space something solid to throw keys on. Look how pretty this one is:
Don’t you love how it defines the space without breaking it up all at the same time? Lucite is pretty much magic. Beautiful, beautiful magic. So in order to “prep” a little more (it’s always good to be prepared, right?), I thought that I’d make a mood board for how I see it styled in our new house.
I’m planning on painting the walls a soft bluish gray which I think will look gorgeous with the rug and art and help tie everything together since we’re pairing modern and traditional pieces.
So tell me, are you a fan of the lucite table or is it too modern for your taste? Would you pair with only modern touches for a cohesive look or try to balance it with more traditional pieces?
